A propos de Palimpseste
Palimpseste is a piece for piano and layered sound. The arrangement of the sound space is conceived around a diffusion from 8 different points, linked to an acoustic piano played live. This composition in 8 moments corresponds to the sonic intertwining of 2 piano spaces, like a mirror reflection between the recorded and acoustic pianos. Priority is given to the listener's sensation of volume resulting from the use of quasi-sculptural sound through timbre and resonance.
Palimpseste is constructed around a dialogue/ a chase/ a call and response between the recorded and live piano, improvised sequences of which appear at different moments during the score. The superposing of 3 ingredients: recording realised before the concert, the interpretation of the score and improvisation, a fusion created by the meeting of several voices. An attempt to evoke, through childhood memory, the phenomenon of memory, its vagaries and selectivity.
